Show Notes

Sam Perez is an author, and a television news reporter in Georgia.

When she’s not filming news stories, you can find her trying out a new restaurant. This passion for food comes from her parents, who opened a restaurant & bakery DV8 Kitchen in Lexington, KY.

The restaurant and bakery hires people in recovery from substance use disorder. Sam discovered that this community of people had stories of strength, grit, and hope.

In an effort to share their experiences and start the conversation about the opioid epidemic, Sam wrote Deviate From Denial: Erasing the Stigma of Addiction and Recovery Through Inspirational Stories  and is available now.
